What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is becoming more and more popular and relevant in today’s world and many great presentations and opportunities for study of this great science can be found. This article intends to offer another insight into what this great science really is.

Let’s start with a practical perspective on what Ayurveda actually is: It is a Vedic science with a significant medical application that offers great insight into Health, Healing, and Enlightenment. It provides a range of Natural medicinal modalities that address the whole person. This Vedic science takes a holistic vantage point on an individual - a vantage point that sees the entire mechanism of your existence - from your Soul to your incarnation. Ayurveda gives a unique and profound insight into the many different dimensions of life - your inner intelligence, subtle bodies, physical body, diet, lifestyle, natural medicines, physical activity, relationships and more. You’ll find an integrative Ayurvedic perspective on many of these areas of life throughout our Knowledge page.

The initiative here is to present Ayurveda as a science For the Soul. The many practical, physiological, dietary, and lifestyle recommendations of Ayurveda are found here, but the underlying principle of how and why Ayurvedic modalities function does in fact go as deep as to touch the Soul of a being. That being said - both the theoretical and practical dimensions of Ayurveda are dynamic in nature and allow for its usefulness to be tailored to the individual.

As a natural medical practice - we find Ayurveda, like many other great traditional systems of medicine, to be a science that takes into account the whole being. We cannot separate certain dimensions of your being from others when health and healing are needed. For example: recurring acid reflux can in fact be directly caused by a person’s emotional condition. Let’s say a person is dealing with a irritating co-worker on a daily basis, the way in which this aggravates a person’s psychology can easily be translated into an anatomical manifestation of hyperacidity. As another quick example: perpetual anxiety can be caused by an irritated gut due to the imbalance in good & bad gut bacteria - or possibly a virus or parasite. Remedies to clean and strengthen the gut often have a significant impact on our mental health. Like that we’ll be presenting many such examples in our articles found on the knowledge page.

Simply put - Ayurveda is a science which provides a holistic perspective on health and healing. According to Ayurveda - it’s goal is two-fold:

  1. To alleviate the illness in the unhealthy

  2. To improve the lives of the already healthy

An Ayurveda practice works to enliven and empower the inner intelligence of the mind/body system, to reset the faulty operations to its divine “factory settings”, and to improve the overall life-path of the individual.

We hope that you find on our knowledge page more than enough information to improve your life and your health.
